Unit 7: Monitor and audit access to Microsoft Entra integrated enterprise applications

Usage and insights report

The Usage and insights report provides an application-centric view of sign-in activity.

It answers questions such as

Which apps are most used.

Which apps have the most failures.

What errors are occurring.

Access the report

Go to the Microsoft Entra admin center.

Select Identity.

Select Applications, then Enterprise applications.

Under Activity, select Usage & insights.

Use the report

Sort by successful or failed sign-ins.

Adjust the date range.

Select View sign-in activity for app-level detail.

Select a day to see individual sign-in records.

Audit logs

Audit logs record system activities for compliance and investigation.

They include

Date and time.

Service.

Activity category and name.

Status.

Target.

Initiator.

Logs can be customized using column selection.

Enterprise application audit logs

These logs answer questions such as

Which apps were added or removed.

Who changed app settings.

Who granted consent.

A filtered enterprise app view is available under Audit logs in Enterprise applications.
